Employment

Excellence in our staff is essential to the daily operation of the Campus Center, benefitting not only the facility but students as well. In the eight years we have been in operation, we continue to have an outstanding student staff retention rate. Students planning to return each semester are confident they will have a job that they enjoy and can learn from.

How we hire
Each year we hire new students to fill the vacancies created by graduating seniors and students taking a semester off. While most of the hiring takes place at the end of the fall semester, we hire as the needs dictate. Availability forms, which can be picked up in our office - must be returned to us by 5pm on the Friday after registration. Preference is given to freshmen. The reasoning is, as mentioned above, continuity with staffing. All students have benefit of cross training upon hire, with updates and changes reviewed during our student staff meetings which takes place at the start of each semester, the day before classes start.

Expectations for student employees

Professional behavior
As we all know, there is no second chance to make a good first impression. Be alert, polite and ready to answer questions at all times.

Promptness
Arrive on time for your shift. If something comes up the last minute that you know you will be late, call the office (X7099) and leave a message.

Responsible work ethic
Students are responsible for but not limited to, arranging shift coverage, completing time sheets by due date, reading all updates, etc. Responsibilities will be covered in depth at the time of hiring. If you are late for a shift, it should be reflected on your time sheet. Students are expected to be at their work site for the duration of their shift. There are exceptions, which will be discussed at the time of hiring.

Teamwork
Work with one another. Be helpful whenever possible, especially when it comes to requests for coverage.

Rotation shifts
In addition to regular weekly shifts, all students are required to work the rotation shift, either Friday or Saturday, 10:00 to 2:00 am, two shifts being the maximum any given semester.
